Are
You Ready to Take a Walk?
The
Biggest community service experience to ever come to Concord University
took place on November 6, 2008!
Each
year, millions of children across the world live without shoes,
clean water, schools, or proper medical care. Their lives are hard
and there is very little that they can do to better themselves.
THATS WHERE YOU COME IN!
The
band, Hanson, recently released their new CD, THE WALK. And with
it they implemented a new community service project. The WALK is
one lap around campus, on November 6th from 4:00-5:00 PM starting
in front of the library.
This
is a great chance to do something very small and have a major effect
on the world around you. And people everywhere are taking notice.
Knoxville News said this about the Take the Walk Challenge:
Take
the Walk is literally taking steps to end poverty and HIV/AIDs in
Africa . The program calls for fans to gather, either with the band
on tour or in self-organized groups, and walk one mile. For every
mile walked by participants, Hanson donates a dollar to one of five
causes the walker can choose from: drilling clean water wells, providing
drugs to HIV-positive mothers, building schools, donating a pair
of TOMS Shoes and providing access to doctors.
