ALEF Selects Its Nineteenth Class of Fellows
The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) has completed its selection process for the 2024 ALEF Sierra Class. This is the nineteenth year that ALEF has put together a group of young men and women from West Virginia who have extraordinary leadership, academic, and social skills and who have great potential to be the leaders in our communities, in government, and in our businesses. Each new Fellow exhibits the core values ALEF espouses – integrity, excellence, and service.

Oluwatobi Adebulu is attending Concord University and majoring in Health Science. He’s from Washington, WV and attended Parkersburg High School. Tobi was Captain of the Soccer team, President of the Key Club, participated in student government, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from the local community college (summa cum laude) and had extraordinary grades in high school.
Piper Cook is from Pineville, WV and attended Wyoming East High School. She is attending Marshall University with a major in Mathematics and Statistics. Piper was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government (President), After School Theater (President) and many other organizations. She won numerous awards including the Governor’s Honor Academy. Piper was very active in many community and school activities.
Liam Dardick is attending Shepherd University and majoring in Biology. He’s from Charlestown, WV. He was homeschooled and participated in numerous community activities and is on the Shepherd University Dean’s List.
Andrew Dillard attends Marshall University with a major in Physical Therapy. He attended Winfield High School and is from Winfield, WV. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, the Student Council (President), and the Winfield HS Basketball Team (Captain). Andrew was very active in multiple community service activities.
Lauren Erwin is from Wheeling, WV and attended Wheeling Park High School. She is going to West Virginia University with a major in English/Political Science. She was a member of the Speech and Debate Club, the Orchestra, the National Honor Society, and the Judicial Scholars Program.
Julian Farrell is attending Shepherd University and majoring in Biology. He’s on the Dean’s list. Julian is from Charlestown, WV.
Megan Griffey is from Williamson, WV and attended Tug Valley High School. She attends Marshall University and majors in Biological Sciences. Megan was a member of the National Honor Society, the Beta Club, the Tug Valley Academic Team (Captain), and the Tug Valley Softball Team. She was a National Merit Finalist and very active in school and community service.
Jacob Lathwell attends West Virginia University with a major in Biomedical Engineering. He’s from Hedgesville, WV and was homeschooled. He was Captain of both the Hedgesville Lacrosse (State Championship MVP) and the Bulldog Hockey teams. He’s on the Dean’s List and heavily engaged in community service.
Haleigh Muncy attends Marshall University and majors in Psychology. She is from Kermit and attended Tug Valley High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government, the Beta Club, the Federation of Christan Athletics, and the Softball and Volleyball Teams. Haleigh was the Homecoming Queen and very active in community service.
Ezra Lee Myers is from Bridgeport, WV and attended Bridgeport High School. He is attending Shepherd University and is a Premed major. He was in the National Honor Society and Captain of the Varsity Soccer Team and is on the Shepherd University Soccer Team and the Dean’s List.
Te’Lyn Napier is attending Marshall University and is in the Nursing Program. She is from Logan, WV and graduated from Logan High School. She was a member of the Beta Club, the National Honor Society, and the National Science, Math, and English Honor Societies. Te’Lyn participated in numerous school and community service activities.
Ryan Rader is from Hedgesville, WV and attended Spring Mills High School. He attends West Virginia University with a major in Cybersecurity. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christan Athletes, Track and Football Teams, the Student Leadership Program, and the National Honor Society. Ryan was very active in community service.
Caitlyn White attends Marshall University and majors in Professional Writing and Editing. She is from Logan, WV and graduated from Logan High School. She was in the Beta Club, the National Honor Society, the National Science, English, and Math Honors Societies, and was President of the Student Government.
